James Grunst, a 6-8 junior middle blocker for 10th-ranked Loyola University-Chicago (17-6, 7-1 MIVA Shondell/Dunlap Division), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the WeekSM. He ignited the Ramblers to a four-game win over Ball State on March 24. Grunst averaged 6.25 points, 5.25 kills, 1.00 blocks and 0.50 aces per game while hitting .731 on 26 attempts. He tallied 25 points against the fourth-place Cardinals with a season-high 21 kills. Grunst added two aces and four block assists in the victory. He holds season averages of 6.25 points, 2.75 kills, 1.29 blocks and 0.24 aces per game with a .490 cumulative hitting percentage. Loyola-Chicago leads the MIVA Shondell/Dunlap Division and faces third-place Ohio State on March 31 and Mercyhurst on April 1. Grunst is the sixth Rambler to receive the national honor and the first time since Shawn Schroeder earned the award on April 7, 2003. The Loyola-Chicago head coach is Shane Davis.
