Adam Ulfers, a 6-7 senior outside hitter for seventh-ranked UC Santa Barbara (16-13, 13-9 MPSF), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. Ulfers helped the Gauchos to a five-game upset of Brigham Young in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament quarterfinal round. UC Santa Barbara entered the MPSF Tournament as the sixth seed, while BYU hosted the match as the third seed. Ulfers slammed 19 kills on 29 attempts as part of a .552 attack percentage. He chipped in four digs and five blocks during the match. Ulfers averaged 4.30 points, 3.80 kills, 1.00 blocks and 0.80 digs per game for the match. Over the course of the season, he averages 2.76 points, 2.67 kills, 0.51 blocks and 0.68 digs per game. Ulfers hits at a .294 percentage for the season. UC Santa Barbara advances to the MPSF Tournament semifinal round and will play fifth-seed Long Beach State on April 28. A UC Santa Barbara student-athlete has earned the national honor seven times.
