Brian Zodrow, a 6-3 junior right side/opposite hitter for 13th-ranked University of the Pacific (3-7, 2-4 MPSF), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. Zodrow led the Tigers to a four-game upset of fifth-ranked UC Santa Barbara and a near-defeat of sixth-ranked Cal State Northridge (31-29, 30-28, 30-28). He posted back-to-back 20-kill outings with 20 against UCSB and 24 versus Northridge (career high). A solo block followed by an ace against UCSB was a turning point in the match, allowing UOP to capture game three and eventually the match. He added eight digs and finished with a career-high five aces. Zodrow averaged 6.29 kills, 2.00 digs, while hitting at a .423 clip (44-11-78) for the week. The University of the Pacific head coach is Joe Wortmann.
