Tyler Hildebrand, a 6-4 sophomore setter for fourth-ranked Long Beach State University (15-4, 10-3 MPSF), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. Hildebrand reached his 974th assist of the season and 2,500th of his career (2,567) with a match-high 70 assists in a 3-2 (27-30, 30-22, 30-27, 26-30 18-16) win over fifth-ranked Pepperdine on March 5. He recorded three kills on four attempts and no errors for a .750 attack percentage and added four blocks and three digs in the key MPSF battle. Hildebrand directed the 49er offense to a .355 hitting percentage (82-28-152) with two errors in 137 attempts for a .511 assist percentage. LBSU rallied from a 12-9 deficit in game five with a 4-1 run to tie the score at 13-13 before going onto the win. The Long Beach State University head coach is Alan Knipe.
