Jeff Soler a 6-6 junior outside hitter for 13th-ranked Lewis University (19-13, 11-5 MIVA), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. Soler propelled Lewis into the NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship field in back-to-back years for the first time in program history with victories over ninth-ranked Ohio State (3-1) in the semifinals and 11th-ranked Ball State (3-2) in the final. He tallied 25 kills, five digs, four blocks and an ace, while hitting .535 in the win over the top-seeded Buckeyes. Soler posted another solid performance with 28 kills, five digs, two blocks and an ace in defeating the Cardinals for Lewis' second-consecutive MIVA Tournament title. Soler averaged 6.44 points, 5.89 kills, 1.11 digs and 0.67 blocks, while hitting .464 (53-8-97) over the course of nine games, and was named the tournament's most valuable player. The Lewis University head coach is Dave Deuser.
