Jonathan Alleman, a 6-3 junior right side/opposite hitter for third-ranked Brigham Young University (22-6, 17-5 MPSF), has been selected the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I/II Men's National Player of the Week for leading the Cougars to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament title and their third trip to the NCAA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship (1999, 2001). He recorded kill-dig double-doubles in wins over second-ranked Hawai'i in the semifinal (3-0) and top-ranked Pepperdine in the final (3-2). Alleman recorded 13 kills and 13 digs, while hitting at a .385 clip in the sweep of the Warriors. He hit .462, pounding 22 kills with four errors in 39 attempts, versus the Waves in the championship match. He added 10 digs, three blocks and assist in the match. Alleman averaged 4.38 kills and 2.88 digs per game, while hitting .431 (35-7-65) for the tournament. Alleman opened and closed the 2003 season with the AVCA/Sports Imports Player of the Week honor, as he earned it for Jan. 20 as well.
