Aleks Ondelj, a 6-4 freshman setter for unranked Rutgers-Newark, has been chosen the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I/II National Player of the Week after leading his team to a 1-1 record against teams ranked in the top 10 of the USA Today/AVCA Division I-II Coaches Top 15 Poll. Ondelj, who was named the most valuable player of the Golden Dome Classic, posted 121 assists in nine games for a 13.44 assists per game average as his team hit .307 for the two matches. He added six total blocks and three aces for per game averages of 0.67 blocks and 0.33 aces. Ondelj led the Scarlet Raiders to a 3-2 victory over No. 9 Ball State on the second day of the tournament. He contributed 61 assists, six kills, two blocks and four digs while the Scarlet Raiders attacked at a .346 percentage in the match. Ondelj recorded 60 assists and three kills in a 3-1 loss to No. 10 Loyola-Chicago on the opening day of the tournament.
