Matt Prosser, a 6-7 middle blocker for No. 2 Long Beach State University is the AVCA/ Sports Imports Division I/II Men's National Player of the Week for the week ending February 7, 2000.  Prosser was instrumental in helping the 49ers hold off MPSF foe and the No. 6 team in the USA Today/AVCA Coaches Top 15 poll, BYU.  In the five-game match (15-7, 16-14, 7-15, 14-16, 15-12) Prosser's 30 kills was a career high and led all attackers for the match.  A .553 hitting percentage topped 49er-attackers and his 14 total blocks were instrumental in stopping the powerful Cougar offense.  The five-game thriller was the first time the BYU defense has been out-blocked during the 2000 campaign.  With the win, the 49ers move to 7-1 overall and are undefeated in conference action.
