Eli Fairfield, a 6-7 outside hitter for No. 2 USC is the AVCA/ Sports Imports Division I/II Men's National Player of the Week for the week ending February 21, 2000.  Fairfield shined in the outside hitter position recording match highs in both kills and attempts during both USC matches for the week.  The Trojans opened with a three-game victory against No. 14 UC-Santa Barbara 15-11, 15-13, 15-11 on Feb. 15.  Fairfield logged 26 kills on 52 attempts (.308) and contributed 15 digs for the night.  The Trojans traveled to Provo, Utah for a match against No. 5 BYU on Feb. 18.  After three hours and five-games, the Trojans were unsuccessful in their bid to end the Cougar's home winning streak dropping the five-game decision to their host (15-5, 7-15, 16-14, 15-17, 11-15).  Despite the negative outcome, Fairfield again led the offensive charge with 42 kills on 86 attempts (.267) and contributed 10 digs.  USC currently stands at 10-2 overall and 7-2 in MPSF action.
