Brandon Taliaferro, a 6-5 setter for No. 6 UCLA is the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I/II Men's National Player of the Week for the week ending March 6, 2000. Taliaferro led the Bruins offense with 19.9 assist per game and orchestrated a .338 team hitting percentage for their three matches. The Bruins played host to the No. 3 BYU Cougars and captured two victories from their MPSF foe. Taliaferro recorded 88 assists in the four-game match on March 1st and 74 assists in as many games on March 4th. Taliaferro contributed both offensively and defensively averaging a .541 hitting percentage and 3.0 digs per game. UCLA finished the week against No. 9 Lewis University and again Taliaferro turned in a solid performance, recording 74 assists, 11 digs and six block assists. The senior setter is a repeat AVCA Player of the Week honoree, receiving the award as a sophomore April 13, 1998. Following the victories over conference-foe BYU, the Bruins moved into second place in the Mountain Division with a 9-4 record. The UCLA Bruins boast a 16-3 overall record thus far in the 2000 campaign
