Jason Voorhees, a 6-5 middle blocker for No. 9 Loyola Marymount is the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I/II Men's National Player of the Week for the week ending April 10, 2000. The Lions recorded one of their biggest wins in program history on Wednesday, April 5th defeating No. 4 UCLA in Pauley Pavilion. Voorhees was a major contributing factor in the Lions first victory over the Bruins in 59 attempts. He scored 15 kills on 20 attempts for a .600 hitting percentage, added three digs and logged a match-high 15 total blocks. Following the significant win the Lions traveled to UC-Irvine on Saturday where they followed-up their four-game victory with a sweep over the Anteaters 15-11, 15-7, 15-5. Voorhees, again was effective at the net with 13 kills on 18 attempts for a .611 hitting percentage. For the week, he maintained a .605 hitting percentage and 2.6 blocks per game.
