AVCA Board of Directors Positions Available...The American Volleyball Coaches Association is now accepting candidates for several positions on the AVCA Board of Directors.  For complete details, click here.

New AVCA Results Section...The new AVCA Results section, open to any college program, is season-based, opposed to the former weekly-based results. Members and non-members alike can view results based on a specified time period in various formats. School schedules and results, as entered by each institution, can be viewed separately. In addition to results, each institution has the opportunity to enter recaps for each match and this information can be found in the detailed results section or school schedule/results area. Men's Collegiate Teams...Schools interested in starting an NCAA Division III varsity level men's volleyball program may consult Jerry Matacotta, North Eastern Collegiate Volleyball Association executive director, at 718-639-0082, or Michael Ricciardi, NECVA commissioner, at 201-684-7675 or mricciar@ramapo.edu. The goal is to have a minimum of 50 NCAA Division III men's volleyball programs, which would qualify for its own national championship.

Membership Profile Changes...As a reminder, AVCA members are responsible for changing their own membership profiles on the AVCA web site when needed. To make changes, simply log-on to the AVCA web site with your username and password and click on the account manager. If members change jobs and do not update their contact and school information, the AVCA has no way of sending benefits that are due. College coaches are also asked to view and update their sports information director and athletic director contact information. You can update your membership profile by going directly to http://www.avca.org/MemberProfile.asp (you need to be logged into the AVCA web site with your username and password). If you need your username and password, please contact the AVCA office.

AVCA Bulletin Board...The AVCA Bulletin Board is open for any AVCA member who wishes to exchange ideas and information. Log on to the AVCA web site at http://www.avca.org/ with your username/member # and password and you are all set to utilize the benefits of the AVCA Bulletin Board. The button to the Bulletin Board is located on the left column of the AVCA main page.

Drills Needed...The AVCA seeks drills for its Volleyball Ace Power Tips Drill Bulletin, which is distributed to high school and club coaches. CSTV Schedule...College Sports Television (CSTV) expects to announce its CSTV Sunday Night Spikes 2004 schedule shortly. It promises to be filled with the "best of the best" of women's collegiate volleyball. The schedule will be laden with NCAA tournament teams from this past fall. Keep an eye on the AVCA web site for the latest details on the 2004 CSTV schedule. 2004 USA Women's Olympic Team Nominees...USA Volleyball nominates 12 athletes to the 2004 U.S. Women's Olympic Volleyball Team pending certification by the United States Olympic Committee. For more details on those who will travel to Athens, click here.

USA Women Embroiled in Battle for Grand Prix Title...The world's second-ranked USA women's national volleyball team is battling it out with some of the best teams for the second-biggest tournament of the year: the World Grand Prix. For details, click here.

USA GYNT Qualifies for 2005 World Championships...The United States won the gold medal at the 2004 NORCECA Girls' Youth Championships with a sweep of Puerto Rico in the final match to qualify for next year's World Championships.  For complete details on the tournament, click here.

SWATCH-FIVB World Tour Marseille Stop...The USA women earn a gold, silver and fourth place in Marseille, while Rogers and Scott finish fourth for the men to keep their Olympic hopes alive.  For more details, click here.

Fuerbringer and Jennings Take Home First AVP Title...Crowd-pleasers Matt Fuerbringer and Casey Jennings took home their first AVP title on the sands of Belmar Beach, July 11, 2004, at the AVP Nissan Series Belmar Open.  For more information on the tournament, click here.

Spikefest 2004 Returns to Frisco, Texas, July 31...After a one-year hiatus, Spikefest, the world's largest three-on-three and five-on-five amateur outdoor volleyball tournament, will return July 31 and Aug. 1 to the Warren Sports Complex in Frisco. 32nd MotherLode Volleyball Classic Will Feature USA Volleyball's National Park (Grass) Volley Championships ...The MotherLode Volleyball Classic will feature national championship competition for the first time for all of its 12 amateur park (grass) court divisions as tournament officials have reached an agreement with USA Volleyball.  For more information, click here.

Schultz currently plays professional beach volleyball and was former head coach at Glenbrook South ... Redlands chose Mari Burningham as head women's volleyball coach. She served the last two seasons as an assistant coach at BYU ... BYU hired Brooke Huebner as assistant women's volleyball coach. She was an assistant coach at Utah Valley State from 1999 to 2002 ... Northwestern (Ill.) selected Ryan Theis as assistant women's volleyball coach. He most recently was an assistant coach at Indiana for two seasons ... Southeast Missouri promoted head women's volleyball coach Cindy Gannon to assistant athletic director. She will retain her volleyball and senior woman administrator roles with the school ... Washington State selected Jody Paperno Gary as assistant women's volleyball coach. She was an assistant at Idaho State last season ... High Point appointed Katy Lusetta assistant women's volleyball coach. She recently completed three seasons as an assistant at the University of Charleston... Miami (Fla.) hired Lisa Argabright as assistant women's volleyball coach. She concluded her playing career at Illinois in 2003 with two AVCA All-Region honors ... Quincy selected Niels Pedersen as head men's volleyball coach. He served as associate head coach at Mt. Carmel High School since 2001. Quincy also chose Rhyen Staley as associate head men's volleyball coach. He was an assistant men's coach at IPFW this past season ... University of South Florida selected Erik Peterson as assistant women's volleyball coach. He recently completed a stint coaching with USA Volleyball National Team and was a volunteer assistant at Florida last fall ... Kansas Wesleyan named Gordon Reimer head women's volleyball and head women's basketball coach ... Tusculum hired Jared Penning as assistant women's volleyball coach. He served as a volunteer and student assistant coach at Northern Iowa, helping the Panthers to 152-17 record the last five years ... LSU tabbed Craig Bere assistant women's volleyball coach. He previously was head coach at Southern Indiana for two seasons ... North Dakota State named Eric Viney as graduate assistant women's volleyball coach. He directed the Marieta College women's volleyball team last season ... Brandeis tabbed Michelle Kim head women's volleyball coach. She has served as an assistant coach at the school the last five seasons ... Baruch tabbed Krishna Dass head women's volleyball coach ... Texas-Arlington announced the resignation of head women's volleyball coach Janine Smith. She has served as head coach at UTA for 10 years and will pursue teaching opportunities at the elementary level ... Augustana (Ill.) named Melissa Kurth assistant women's volleyball coach ... Yale selected Kevin Laseau as assistant women's volleyball coach. He has won three national titles in the 16-Open division as coach of the Munciana (Ind.) Volleyball Club ... Franklin Pierce College hired Michelle Kreeger as assistant women's volleyball coach. She previously served as the head coach of Metro American's 17 Travel team ... Nova Southeastern named Michelle DeSantis head women's volleyball coach. She was head varsity volleyball coach at American Heritage High School in Florida last season ... Stetson chose Cheryl Carlson head women's volleyball coach. She was head coach at Virginia Commonwealth for seven years prior to going into athletic administration at VCU after the 2001 season ... UMass-Dartmouth hired Michael Holden head women's volleyball coach. He previously was the head men's volleyball coach at Roger Williams until the program was eliminated this spring ... TCU extended the contract of head women's volleyball coach Prentice Lewis to an unspecified multi-year contract ... New Jersey City promoted Christopher Feliciano to head women's volleyball coach, replacing Ofelia Pancarician. Feliciano will retain the head men's volleyball position he started in Spring 2004 ... Texas-Arlington elevated Diane Seymour to interim head coach following the departure of Janine Smith. Seymour has been an assistant with the program for the last eight years ... Quincy selected Keith Rubio head women's volleyball coach. He has been at the University of Oregon the last two seasons, serving as the associate head coach in 2003.
