EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 7 Oregon volleyball team dispatched another Pac-10 desert rival - this time Arizona - in 3-0 fashion for the second straight night at McArthur Court Saturday.

Oregon (17-4, 6-3) won by a 25-20, 25-21, 25-20 count to notch its sixth league victory in its last seven outings, including five 3-0 decisions, while Arizona (13-8, 3-6) lost for the fourth straight time to UO.

Three Duck hitters had +10 kills - senior Gorana Maricic (14, .219), sophomore Heather Meyers (14, .360) and junior Neticia Enesi (10, .353). Junior setter Nevena Djorjevic racked up 37 assists, while seniors Katie Swoboda and Marija Milosevic ended with 13 and 10 digs, respectively.

Milosevic's seven kills tied her season high and was one shy of her career high (8) from last year's Sweet 16 meeting with UCLA, and her dig tally was only two off her season high (9) vs. North Carolina.

Junior Amanda Westrick had a team season-high and personal career-high four service aces for the second straight night, and Djordjevic added two more.

The middle blocker Enesi showed her versatility with a team-high three blocks, and a season high in digs (2), and her assists mark (2) was one off her season high. Maricic also had three blocks and nine digs to just miss her second double-double of the season.

UA, which had been ranked top 25 a month ago and had received votes all season, flexed its defense early. The Pac-10's team leader in blocks per set (2.70 avg.), rang up five in the first set, two more in the second set, and three in the final set. However, UO still finished with a .304 hitting mark - its 11th .300 mark of '08 and its fourth in Pac-10 play with its wins vs. then-No. 4 USC (.452), then-No. 24 Oregon State (.380) and at Washington State (.354).

In contrast, the Duck defense - second-best in blocking in the Pac-10 coming in with its 2.70 average - ended with 10 blocks, a stat slightly more impressive considering all of them came in the final two sets. The Oregon 'D' held the visitors to a .221 hitting mark - just below its .229 season average.

For the Wildcats, three players had +6 kills - Randy Goodenough (8, .438), Whitney Dosty (6, .200) and Stephanie Snow (6, .357), setter Paige Weber had 28 assists, and Snow and Dosty shared the team high in blocks (4). Tiffany Owens and Brooke Buringrud tied for the team best in digs (5), and the latter player also a team-high two service aces.

Looking ahead, UO hosts Utah at Mac Court in Eugene, Monday, October 27 at 7 p.m. The match is a $2 Bi-Mart night with discount coupons available at Eugene-Springfield area Bi-Mart stores.
