No. 7 Washburn Sweeps Missouri Western

TOPEKA, Kan. - No. 7 Washburn hit .392 as a team in a 25-17, 25-18, 25-17 win against Missouri Western Saturday night in Lee Arena. The Lady Blues (26-2, 11-2 MIAA) won their 12th straight match and swept their fifth straight opponent. They have won 16 straight sets.

The Lady Blues moved into a tie for second place in the MIAA as Central Missouri (11-2) did not play Saturday.

Mollie Lacy and Kelci Wigger each had seven kills with no errors. Wigger had eight attempts and hit .875 and Lacy hit .636 in 11 tries. Ashley Shepard led with eight kills and Monica Miesner added seven.

Off the bench Breanna Lewis had five kills and hit .571 while Caitlin Conley added four kills.

Kate Hampson had 39 assists and Molly Smith led with 16 digs.

The Griffons hit .131 as a team and were led by Meghan Voelz with seven kills.
