No. 7 Oregon Falls in Five Sets at No. 12 USC

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 7 University of Oregon volleyball team (18-5, 6-4) fell in a hard-fought overtime fifth set Friday night to No. 12 USC at the Galen Center.

No. 12 USC (12-6, 5-5) won the fifth set by a score of 23-21 after the two teams split the first two sets. The Ducks claimed the second and third sets by scores of 25-15, 25-12, while the Trojans took the first and fourth sets by a 25-21 count.

Duck junior middle blocker Neticia Enesi had career highs in kills (23) and blocks (12), and also hit .594.

Junior setter Nevena Djordjevic also had a career-high 60 assists, improving on her 58 that she had at No. 7 Washington two weekends ago.

Senior Gorana Maricic added 17 kills, and two others had double-digit tallies - junior Sonja Newcombe (12) and senior Kristen Forristall (11, .400).

Newcombe boosted the team with her fifth double-double of the season (and 29th of her career) with her 14 digs that tied her second-highest tally of the season. Other Duck category leaders included Maricic (2 service aces) and senior Katie Swoboda (26 digs).

Sophomore Heather Meyers had a season-high nine blocks, while the Ducks had 19 blocks as a team - their highest tally of the season and five more than their previous best of 14 in the five-set loss at Illinois. 

UO hit .274 for the match, while USC ended with a .200 tally.

The Trojans had three hitters tally +14 kills - Kimmee Roleder (17, .382), Alex Jupiter (15) and Jessica Gysin (14). Setter Taylor Carico ended with 51 assists, Alli Hillgren had 18 digs, and Lauren Williams and Taylor Carico both had five blocks.
