No. 6 West Texas A&M Defeats No. 19 West Florida
CANYON, Texas - The Lady Buffs (7-0, 0-0 LSC) are stepping up to the Colorado Premier Challenge in bold fashion, beating #19 University of West Florida (5-1) three games to none in their second of two matches today. WT handed the West Florida Argonauts their first loss of the season. West Florida kept things tight in the first two games with scores of 25-23 and 25-23, but they couldn't hold on in the third game, only managing 18 points to WT's 25 to win the match.
Junior rightside hitter Laura Prinsen smashed her way through the competition, posting 15 kills and 2 blocks. Juniors Natalie Johnson and Melissa Harper and sophomore Lauren Thedford tallyed nine kills each. Junior setter Katie Rickwartz posted 44 assists, her personal best this season.
The Lady Buffs will now move to the gold bracket and have a chance to advance to the championship match to take place Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. The road to the championship match will begin at 12:00 p.m. as the Lady Buffs take on Concordia-St. Paul. They will then play Augustana or Florida Southern for either third place or the Colorado Premier Challenge Championship.
