Fresno, Calif. - A clash between the NAIA's top two teams ended in a 3-0 sweep in favor of the #1 ranked Sunbirds. California Baptist was unable to break another solid defensive performance by the Sunbirds as the Sunbirds handed the Lancers their first loss of the season.

Seniors Brittany Pierce, Fabiana Leomil , Thais Julio and Sophomore Ke Ke Wang each hit above .400 for the match. Leomil led all players with eight kills on 16 attempts.

The Sunbirds started hot and never cooled down as they hit .427 as a team. Set one started off pretty even until the Sunbirds ran away with an 8-2 run. The quick spurt allowed the Sunbirds to build a comfortable 19-12 lead in route to the 25-15 win.

Defensively the Sunbirds continued to put the clamps on the Lancers and kept them below a .100 hitting percentage. As if the tough defense wasn't enough, offensively they nailed 12 kills on 26 attempts. The second set would again end with a lopsided score, 25-16.

Set number three was the best all around performance for the Sunbirds. Their defense never let up as they held the Lancers to a mere .031 hitting percentage. Offensively they continued to bring the heat for a .481 hitting percentage.

The final set swung in favor of the Sunbirds quickly as they never looked back in route to a 24-13 win to complete the sweep overthe #2 ranked Lancers.
