Brittany Stamer, a freshman setter for Minnesota State University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week for her outstanding play in leading her team to two wins last week, including an upset of then-No. 17 Minnesota Duluth. In the Mavericks' first match of the week, a 3-0 win over Bemidji State, Stamer had 41 assists and led her team to a .337 hitting percentage. She also had eight digs in the victory. Then, in the upset over the Bulldogs, Stamer led her team to a .384 hitting percentage with a 52-assist performance, her fifth 50-assist match of the season. For the week, Stamer guided her team to a .364 hitting percentage, had 93 total assists and averaged 13.89 assists and 1.57 digs per set. This marks the third time an athlete from Minnesota State has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week award. The last Maverick to earn the award was Melanie Jude on Nov. 3, 2002. Minnesota State is coached by Dennis Amundson.
