Rhea Cardwell, a senior outside hitter from Alaska Anchorage, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week on the strength of her strong performances in the Seawolves' two season-ending road matches. In Alaska Anchorage's first match, a 3-2 win over Central Washington, Cardwell had her first double-double of the week, putting away 32 kills, which ties the school record, and scooping up 12 digs. She also hit .403, the second-highest hitting percentage of her career, and had three total blocks in the match. This was also the first time Alaska Anchorage has swept the season series from the Wildcats in school history. Cardwell followed that up with her second double-double of the week, getting 30 kills and 22 digs in a tough 3-2 loss to then No. 18 Western Washington. For the week, Cardwell hit .333 and averaged 6.2 kills, 3.4 digs and 6.7 points per set. Cardwell is the first athlete from Alaska Anchorage to be named Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. The Seawolves are coached by Chris Green.
