Noel Garcia, a 6-0 right side/opposite hitter for Mount Olive College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. Garcia was named the Most Valuable Player of the Rutgers-Newark Golden Dome Classic, helping Mount Olive post a 2-0 record in the event, including the first win over a Division I opponent in the history of the Trojans' men's volleyball program. In the first match of the Classic, a sweep of East Stroudsburg, Garcia landed 13 kills on 21 attempts with only two errors (.524), adding five digs and two blocks. In the historic four-game win over Harvard, Garcia narrowly missed a double-double with a career-high 20 kills, adding nine digs and three blocks, while hitting at a .500 clip. For the week, Garcia averaged 4.71 kills, two digs and nearly one block per game, while hitting an impressive .509. This is the first Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Player of the Week honor for a player from Mount Olive College. The Trojans are coached by Sasha Gutor.
