Devin Zolnowski, a 6-5 junior outside hitter for then-No. 6 New York University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week. He earns the award after helping lead the Violets to four wins last week, the best start the team has had to open its season in the rally-scoring era. In NYU's first match, a 3-1 win over Division II-Mercyhurst, Zolnowski tallied 24 kills, seven digs, four total blocks and one ace. He followed that up by scoring 12 kills, four digs and one block in a sweep of then-No. 8 D'Youville. In the team's third match of the week, he netted 15 kills, five digs, three total blocks and two aces in a 3-1 defeat of then-No. 13 Medaille, and then closed out the week by putting away 18 kills, seven digs and four total blocks in a sweep of Division II-Mount Olive. For the week, Zolnowski averaged 4.93 kills, 1.64 digs and 5.75 points per game. This is the 15th time player from NYU has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week award. The last player to earn the award was Macnair Sillick on March 12, 2007. The Violets are coached by Jose Pina.
