Danial Levent, a 6-4 middle blocker for Baruch College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week for his stellar play in helping the Bearcats to six wins last week. In the early part of the week, Levent helped lead Baruch to sweeps over Polytechnic University and Medgar Evers College, and a 3-1 win over Lehman College. In those three matches, he hit at a .289 clip while averaging 4.5 kills, 2.60 digs and 0.3 blocks per game, with his best match being a 28-kill, 19-dig, 2-block performance against Lehman. Over the weekend, the junior athlete helped the Bearcats win the Bard College Invitational, en route to earning MVP honors. In the first match of the tournament, a sweep of SUNY Purchase, Levent tallied 12 kills while hitting .526 for the match, picking up eight digs and one ace in the win. In Baruch's next match, he hit .400 on 30 kills with only six errors in 60 swings in a 3-1 win over Lasell College. He completed a double-double, digging up 13 balls, while also getting seven blocks in the contest. His final match of the week was his best, and it came in a 3-2 win against the host team, Bard, in the championship of the tournament. In the match, Levent recorded his second double-double of the event, smacking down an amazing 44 kills in 96 attempts with only 14 errors for a .312 hitting percentage. He completed the double-double with 13 digs, while also getting seven block in the match. For the entire week, Levent scored three double-doubles, while hitting 340, and averaging 5.95 kills, 2.73 digs and .77 blocks per game. Levent is the first athlete from Baruch to earn the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week award. The Bearcats are coached by Allison Gunther.
