KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Tamy Leipelt of No. 24 Oklahoma Baptist has been named the NAIA Volleyball National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Leipelt was selected based on her performances from Sept. 7 - 13. She was chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections among 24 conferences.

Leipelt, a 5-11 senior outside hitter from Porte Alegre, Brazil, helped lead the Bison to a 4-1 record last week. Among those wins were upsets over then-ranked No. 18 Doane (Neb.) and then-ranked No. 8 Morningside (Iowa). With the pair of wins over ranked opponents, the 9-3 Bison cracked into the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll for the first time this season at No. 24.

Leipelt tallied 64 kills over the week, posting double-figure kills in all five matches. The outside hitter slammed down 15 kills against College of St. Mary (Neb.) and 14 against Briar Cliff (Iowa).
