Eric Vance, a 6-4 outside hitter for then-No. 2 Cal State University Northridge, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week.  Vance led his squad to two road wins over top-ten opponents last week, improving the Matador record to 5-0, the program's best start since 1985.  The Matadors stormed Pauley Pavilion and swept then-No. 8 UCLA, as Vance led the way with 18 kills and 10 digs, hitting .412.  The 2008 AVCA First-Team All-American then landed 25 kills, while hitting .364, and added 10 digs in a four-game win over then-No. 5 UC Irvine in Orange County.  For the week, Vance averaged over six kills per game, nearly three digs per game, and hit .382.  This honor marks the second time Vance has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week award (the other being Feb. 25, 2008), and the eighth such honor for a Matador player.  Cal State Northridge is coached by Jeff Campbell.
