Frank Leahy, a 6-0 senior setter for then-No. 5 Nazareth College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week. This is the second time in his career he has received the honor, with the last coming on February 11, 2008. Leahy earns this week's award after leading his team to a 4-0 record at the Carthage Tournament over four nationally-ranked opponents. In a 3-1 win over then-No. 9 Philadelphia Biblical, Leahy had 57 assists, seven digs and two blocks in the match. He then dished out 55 assists, while adding six digs, four blocks and two aces in a four-game victory over then-No. 15 Milwaukee School of Engineering to end the first day of the tournament. He began the second day of the event with 66 assists, four digs, four blocks a d one ace in a 3-1 win over then-No. 10 NYU. Leahy finished the tournament with a 56-assist performance in a 3-1 triumph over then-No. 13 Carthage, also notching three digs, three blocks and one ace in the win. For the week, Leahy averaged 14.62 assists and 1.25 digs per game, while leading his team to a .347 hitting percentage. Leahy is the sixth athlete from Nazareth, and the second individual this season, to receive Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Men's National Player of the Week honors. The last Golden Flyer to earn the award was Billy Gimello on February 23, 2009. Nazareth is coached by Cal Wickens.
