NJCAA Volleyball Player of the Week (Sept. 16, 2009)

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Sept. 16, 2009) - Jessica Peacock of the College of Southern Idaho, Riley Callan of Central Community College-Columbus (Neb.) and Alexys Cleaver of Rock Valley College have been named the NJCAA Volleyball Players of the Week.
Jessica Peacock (Healthfield; Summertown, S.A. Australia) averaged 5.27 kills and 2.07 digs per game last week for the College of Southern Idaho. The sophomore outside hitter averaged 5.27 kills and 2.07 digs per game for the Golden Eagles. Peacock's outstanding performance lead her team, ranked No. 8 in last week's NJCAA DI poll, to a 3-0 win over defending national champions Blinn College, who was ranked No. 1. It was in this match that she recorded her high of the week, 24 kills. She also led CSI to a 3-0 win over No. 5 Miami-Dade and a 3-1 win over No. 9 San Jacinto.
Riley Callan (Ord; Ord, Neb.) led No. 13 Central Community College-Columbus to a 5-0 record last week, earning NJCAA DII Volleyball Player of the Week honors. The sophomore outside hitter averaged 4.05 kills and 4.35 digs per game last week. Her week high came with 21 kills in a match against MCC-Longview. Callan then tallied a week high 27 digs in a match against Western Wyoming.
Alexys Cleaver (Dakota; Dakota, Ill.) split her time last week between three positions for Rock Valley College. As a versatile player, Cleaver saw time all over the court, keeping her team alive. On the week, she averaged 2.01 kills and 4.68 digs per game. Her week high came with 14 kills and 16 digs against UW- Waukesha, where she also added an assist, two aces and two blocks for the No. 3 team in the country.
