Hillsdale's Ashlee Crowder Named Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week
Ashlee Crowder, a sophomore outside hitter for Hillsdale College, has been named the Sports Imports/ AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. She earned the award after helping the Chargers improve their record to 12-1 on the season, while being the only team left in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) to own an undefeated conference record (5-0). Crowder began the week with her best performance against Findlay, hitting .526 with 22 kills, eight digs and one block to lead the team to the first of three sweeps of the week. She continued by guiding Hillsdale to a key blanking of Wayne State (Mich.), clubbing 17 kills and tallying eight digs, two blocks and an ace. Crowder finished the week with a double-double, contributing 17 kills, 10 digs and three aces in an 3-0 victory over Northwood (Mich.). For the week, Crowder averaged 6.2 kills, 2.9 digs and 6.9 points per set. This is the first time an athlete from Hillsdale has received the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week award. The Chargers are coached by Chris Gravel.
