Megan Hodge, a senior outside hitter for top-ranked Penn State University, has been named the Sports Imports/ AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. She earned the award after recording a team-best 50 kills in keeping the Nittany Lions perfect on the season, also extending their winning streak to 76 consecutive matches. Hodge started the week off by hitting at a .529 clip with 11 kills, while also contributing four digs and two blocks to gain the first sweep of the weekend against Temple. The three-time AVCA First-Team All-American selection continued action by drilling 15 kills for a .560 hitting percentage, in addition to grabbing nine digs, against Saint Francis (Pa.). She closed out the week equally as efficient by clubbing 24 kills, a season-high, for a .538 attack percentage, while tallying four digs, two blocks and an ace to lead the Nittany Lions to their second whitewashing of Temple in as many days. For the week, Hodge averaged 5.6 kills, 1.9 digs and 5.89 points per set. This is the seventh time an athlete from Penn State has received the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the week award and marks the second honor for Hodge, who last earned the distinction on Sept. 10, 2007. The Nittany Lions are coached by Russ Rose.
