Kayli Schumacher, a junior rightside hitter for then-No. 20 College of Saint Benedict, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. She earned the award after propelling her team to two big MIAC wins last week, improving the Blazers' conference record to 6-1 on the season. Schumacher kicked things off with her best outing of the week, drilling 15 kills for an efficient .481 attack percentage in a 3-1 upset of then-No. 9 St. Thomas (Minn.). She also recorded two blocks in the Blazers' first win over the Tommies since 2004. Schumacher capped the week by leading CSB's offense with 10 kills, hitting at a .412 clip, in addition to contributing four blocks in a sweep of Macalester. For the week, Schumacher hit .455 and averaged 3.57 kills and 4.72 points per set. This is the first time an athlete from the College of Saint Benedict has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week award. The Blazers are coached by Michelle Blaeser.
