Nov. 10 -  Sydney Anderson, a junior setter for then-No. 10 University of Nebraska, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I Player of the Week after leading the Huskers to two Big 12 sweeps, including a blanking of then-No. 8 Iowa State. Anderson started out the week by guiding the Huskers to a season-high .451 hitting percentage, while dishing out 43 assists in knocking off Missouri. She also added four digs, two kills, two aces and two blocks in the win. The 2008 AVCA Second-Team All-American continued the week by distributing 39 assists along with six digs, four kills, one block and a season-high three aces in the victory over the Cyclones, handing Iowa State their first home loss of 2009. For the week, Anderson averaged a 13.67 assists per set, guiding the Husker offense to a Big 12-best .384 hitting percentage. She also compiled 0.83 service aces, 1.00 kill and 1.67 digs per set. This is the eleventh time an athlete from Nebraska has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I Player of the Week award, the last honor going to Jordan Larson on Sept. 23, 2008. The Huskers are coached by John Cook.
