AVCA Introduces Phenom Magazine
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association is proud to introduce its newest publication, Phenom, The Magazine for Volleyball Players. Phenom, geared toward players 13-18 years old, is debuting this month at juniors' events and clubs across the country. It was first introduced at last weekend's Allstate Sugar Bowl JVA World Volleyball Challenge in New Orleans.
"Phenom is about dreaming big dreams, finding great role models, following smart advice, and setting stretch goals," said Kathy DeBoer, AVCA Executive Director. "It's an exciting new venture for the AVCA and a way for us to further strengthen the linkages between the various segments of the volleyball community."
Phenom features articles on leadership, recruiting, nutrition and training. Readers are also given an inside look into a day in the life of Stanford star Alix Klineman, as well as a feature story on Penn State's Darcy Dorton and her transition from Under Armour High School All-American to collegiate national champion.
An interview with AVP star and Olympian Nicole Branagh, a recap of the 2009 Under Armour All-America Match, and an inspirational article on how to "take your game to the next level" are all included in the inaugural issue.
A second issue of Phenom is in the works, with an expected release to be announced.
