Sadie Kessler, a senior right side/opposite from top-ranked Concordia University, St. Paul, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week. Kessler helped lead the Golden Bears back to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships round of eight with three wins last week, bringing their NCAA Division II record to 71 consecutive matches won, as they search for a third-consecutive national championship. In the week's first match against Colorado School of Mines, Kessler tallied nine kills and nine digs, hitting at a .471 clip. In the second round against No. 17 Wayne State (Neb.), she registered 13 kills and five digs, hitting an amazing .650. The following day, in the round-of-sixteen against No. 20 Metro State, Kessler notched 14 more kills and two more digs, with another stellar hitting percentage of .583. For the week, Kessler averaged four kills and nearly two digs per set, while hitting an astounding .574, as she committed a total of just one error in three matches. This honor marks the ninth time a player from Concordia-St. Paul has won the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week award, and the third this year.
