Truman's Molly Sinclair Named Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week
Molly Sinclair, a junior outside hitter for then-No. 25 Truman State University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week after guiding her team to 4-0 start to the season at the UIndy Volleyball Classic. Sinclair kicked action off by netting her first of two double-doubles on the weekend, collecting 13 kills and 11 digs, two blocks and two aces in the Bulldogs' sweep of Nova Southeastern. She drilled 13 kills, scooped up eight digs and tallied two aces in Truman's next match, a blanking of West Virginia State. Sinclair followed with another 13-kill effort, this time coming in a 3-1 decision over Wayne State (Mich.), while also totaling eight digs. In the Bulldogs' final match against then-No. 4 Indianapolis, Sinclair drilled 17 kills and picked up eight digs and one ace, in a 3-2 Truman victory. For the week, Sinclair averaged 3.73 kills, 2.60 digs and 4.17 points per set. This marks the fourth time a Truman athlete has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honors, the last coming Sept. 22, 2003 when Jessica Sears garnered the distinction. The Bulldogs are coached by Ben Briney.
