Rockhurst's Tracy Rietzke Nets 1,000th Career Win

Rockhurst coach Tracy Rietzke became the newest member of the 1,000-victory club on Friday. He is the sixth coach in NCAA history to collect 1,000 or more victories in women's volleyball.

tracyRockhurst opened the 2010 season with a pair of 3-0 victories over Tiffin (Ohio) and Shepherd (W.Va.) in the Rockhurst Classic at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House to improve Rietzke's career record to 1,001-207.

The Rockhurst athletic department recognized the 1,000-victory milestone with a post-game ceremony on the Mason-Halpin volleyball court. Athletic director Richard Konzem awarded Rietzke with a framed certificate and the team gave their coach a signed game ball.

Rietzke, the sixth coach in NCAA history to post 1,000 or more victories in women's volleyball, leads all active NCAA Division II coaches in victories.

A native of Kensington, Kan., Rietzke has won 829 matches in 22 seasons at Rockhurst after compiling 172 wins in six seasons at Kansas Wesleyan from 1982-88.

Emily Levy and Maggie McGovern combined for 24 kills and eight blocks to lead the Hawks past Tiffin by the scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-12. Victoria Mahl posted 15 digs and Alyssa Emerson collected 34 assists.

Levy and McGovern were the hitting stars (15 kills) in the 25-12, 25-13 and 25-15 set wins over Shepherd. Mahl led the team in digs (15) and Emerson in assists (29).

The Hawks split their final two matches in the Rockhurst Classic on Saturday. Rockhurst defeated Urbana 3-0 and fell to 17th-ranked Wayne State (Neb.) 3-0.

McGovern, Levy and Emerson were named to the All-Tournament team.

Rockhurst moved its record to 4-1 with a 3-0 victory over Haskell Tuesday night at home. Levy and Leah Grant led the Hawks with nine kills apiece.

The Hawks play four matches in the Missouri S&T Classic Friday and Saturday in Rolla, Mo.
