Tyler Henderson, a sophomore outside hitter for the University of Tulsa, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. She earned the award after powering the Golden Hurricane to a trio of Conference USA wins last week. Henderson began the week with her most impressive match to date, smashing 45 kills and tallying nine digs, four blocks and one ace in Tulsa's five-set victory over SMU. Her 45 kills set a new NCAA record for the rally-scoring era, and ranks ninth all-time in NCAA history. Henderson followed by pounding 22 kills and 20 kills, respectively, in consecutive 3-0 wins against UAB. For the week, Henderson averaged 7.91 kills, 1.18 digs and 8.59 points per set, while hitting an efficient .428. This marks the first time a Tulsa athlete has been honored as the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. The Golden Hurricane are coached by Ed Allen.
