Carli Lloyd, a senior setter for then-No. 5 University of California, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. She earned the award after quarterbacking the Golden Bears to a 3-1 triumph over then-No. 2 Stanford on the road in Cal's lone match of the week. Lloyd dished out 52 assists and led the Golden Bears' attackers to a .347 team hitting percentage, while also netting seven kills, five digs and four blocks. The senior sparkplug also became just the second Cal athlete to eclipse the 5,000 career assist plateau during the match. For the week, Lloyd averaged 13.00 assists, 1.75 digs, 1.25 kills, 1.00 blocks and 1.75 points per set. This marks the second time in her career Lloyd has been honored as the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week, her last nod coming on Oct. 21, 2008, and is also the fifth time overall a Cal athlete has been honored. The Golden Bears are coached by Rich Feller.
