Alex Jupiter, a junior outside hitter for then-No. 8 University of Southern California, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. She earned the award after guiding the Women of Troy to a pair of key wins to kickoff the second half of Pac-10 play. She began the week by contributing 12 kills, seven digs, two blocks and an ace in USC's sweep of Washington State. In the Women of Troy's next match, a thrilling five-set win over then-No. 7 Washington, Jupiter was one off her career best of 31 kills, chipping in 30 bombs to go along with 14 digs and three blocks. For the week, Jupiter averaged 5.25 kills, 2.63 digs and 5.59 points per set, while hitting .388. Jupiter's honor marks the seventh time an athlete from USC has received the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week award. It is also her second career honor, as she earned the nod earlier this season on September 7. The Women of Troy are coached by Mick Haley.
