Devin Diedrich, a junior middle blocker for then-No. 6 Southwest Minnesota State Univeristy, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. She earned the award after propelling the Mustangs to a trio of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference wins. Diedrich kicked off action with a 22-kill, six-block, five-dig outing in SMSU's 3-2 victory over Augustana (SD). She followed by drilling a career-high 28 kills, to go along with two blocks, two digs and one ace in the Mustangs' sweep of Winona State. Diedrich wrapped up the week's action by contributing 14 kills, five blocks, two digs and an ace in a sweep of Upper Iowa. For the week, Diedrich averaged 5.73 kills, 1.36 blocks and 6.68 points per set, while hitting an efficient .376. This marks the second time this season and third time overall that a Southwest Minnesota State player has garnered Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honors, the last being Mary Groth's nod on Oct. 5. The Mustangs are coached by Terry Culhane.
