|Jeri Walkowiak, a senior middle blocker for No. 10 the University of Nebraska Kearney has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. She earned the award after helping the Lopers to three home wins last week to capture the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) championship. In the tournament's semifinals against Regis, she recorded a program-record 31 kills to advance the Lopers into the title bout. Walkowiak continued her strong play in the finals against then-No. 12 Metro State, recording 12 kills with four blocks for the win and earning tournament MVP honors. Her 4.58 kills and 5.08 points per set on the week were over one full kill and over four points higher than her previous weekly averages, respectively, and she also hit an efficient .379. This marks the seventh time a Nebraska-Kearney athlete has garnered Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honors, and the second time in as many weeks as Cola Svec took home the honor last week. The Lopers are coached by Rick Squires.|
