Amelia McCall, a senior outside hitter for then-No. 4 Emory University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. She earned the award after her stellar play in leading the Eagles to three victories last week, two of them coming over top-five ranked opponents. McCall began the week by helping Emory take down top-ranked Juniata in four sets, tallying a double-double of 10 kills and 19 digs, to go along with two aces and one block. In the Eagles' next match, a sweep of then-No. 5 Eastern (Pa.), McCall notched her second double-double in as many matches, coming away with 14 kills and 12 digs, while also chipping in a block and an ace. The senior leader ended the week with 11 kills, five digs and three aces in Emory's whitewashing of Williams. For the week, McCall averaged 3.50 kills and 3.60 digs per set, while hitting at a .341 clip. This marks the sixth time an athlete from Emory has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week accolades, the last recipient being Alysse Meyer on Sept. 9, 2008. The Eagles are coached by Jenny McDowell.
