Carson Clark, a 6-6 right side hitter for UC Irvine, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week after propelling the Anteaters to a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents, including an upset of then-No. 8 Long Beach State. The sophomore kicked action off with a match-high 23 kills, 10 digs, two service aces and two blocks in the four-set win over the 49ers. In his next match, a sweep of then-No. 14 UC San Diego, Clark drilled 17 kills, while picking up five service aces, a career-high seven blocks and one dig. For the week, Clark hit an efficient .360 and averaged 5.71 kills, 1.57 digs, 1.29 blocks, 1.00 aces and 7.50 points per game. This is the 16th time a UC Irvine athlete has garnered Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II Player of the Week accolades, the last player to do so being Taylor Wilson on April 27, 2009. The Anteaters are coached by John Speraw.
