Murphy Troy, a 6-8 outside hitter for then-No. 6 University of Southern California, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week after vaulting the Trojans to a pair of wins over nationally-ranked Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) foes. The junior kicked action off by blasting 23 kills on .375 hitting, in addition to totaling seven digs, three blocks and two assists in USC's 3-2 win over then-No. 14 UC San Diego. He followed by contributing 16 kills (.400), five digs, four blocks and a service ace in the Trojans' blanking of then-No. 10 Long Beach State. For the week, Troy averaged 4.88 kills, 1.50 digs and 5.56 points per game, while turning in a .385 hitting percentage. This marks the third time Troy has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week honors and the 10th time a USC athlete has been recognized. The last Trojan to earn the distinction was Tony Ciarelli on January 19, 2010. USC is coached by Bill Ferguson.
