Phil Tully, a 6-6 senior outside hitter for then-No. 9 Vassar College has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week. He earned the award for his efforts in propelling the Brewers to a pair of North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NEVCA) wins, allowing Vassar to remain unbeaten in conference play. Tully began the week with a 21-kill (.486), five-dig, four-block, one-ace outing in the Brewers' 3-1 triumph over Bard. The two-time AVCA Men's Division III First-Team All-American came up big again for Vassar in its four-set victory over then-No. 15 Ramapo, as the sparkplug notched a double-double with 25 kills and 13 digs. He also contributed three blocks and an assist in the match.  For the week, Tully hit at a .402 clip and averaged 5.75 kills, 2.25 digs and 6.75 points per game.  This marks the sixth time an athlete from Vassar has been awarded Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week accolades and is Tully's first nod. The last Brewer to garner the honor was John Kessenich February 17, 2009. Vassar is coached by Antonia Sweet.
