Billy Gimello, a 6-4 junior outside hitter for Nazareth, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week.  Gimello was vital in Nazareth's run in the NECVA Tournament this weekend that included knocking off three AVCA top-15 teams.  After defeating Lasell in four sets, Nazareth dropped No. 13 Stevens in the Quarterfinals with Gimello contributing 14 kills.  In the Semifinals against No.8 Philadelphia Biblical, Gimello tallied 20 kills in 33 attempts for a .485 hitting percentage before matching up with No. 7 Baruch to determine the NECVA champion.  In the finals, The New York native recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs in the five-set win.  For his efforts, Gimello was named MVP of the NECVA Tournament, and he became the fourth Golden Flyer to pass the 1,000 kill plateau to arrive at his current number of 1,014, fourth all time. This is the 10th time a player from Nazareth has won the AVCA Player of the Week, and the first for Gimello.  Previously, the most recent award recipient was Ellis Walsh, who won it the week of February 22nd of last year.  The Golden Flyers are coached by Cal Wickens.
