Jordyn Skinner, a junior outside hitter for Western Kentucky University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. She earned the award after leading the Lady Toppers to a perfect 4-0 and the team title at their own WKU Tournament. In their one match prior to the weekend, Skinner recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs in the sweep over Lipscomb. Then she really turned on the jets come tournament time. In the tournament opener against Xavier, Skinner finished one kill shy of the school record with 30 kills, a 7.5 kills per set average, in the four-set win while adding 12 digs. Later that night against Wake Forest, she had enough in the tank to tally 19 kills and 15 digs to record three consecutive double-doubles. The reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week capped the weekend with 21 kills against LSU. The Michigan native finished the week with 80 kills (5.71 per set) and 50 digs while hitting at a .321 clip. This honor marks the second time an athlete from WKU has received the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week award, the last being Amanda Schiff the week of November 10, 2003. The Lady Toppers are coached by Travis Hudson.
