Megan Carlson, a senior outside hitter for No. 1 Concordia University, St. Paul, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week after guiding her team to a 4-0 start to the season while not dropping a single set. She kicked off the season with a win over Pittsburg State nailing 13 kills, zero errors and hit .619 along with nine digs and three blocks. Carlson stepped up her game against then-No. 8 Central Missouri, finishing with 14 kills and 11 digs for her first double-double of the season. However, her most impressive stat might be that fact she was a perfect 23-for-23 in serve receive. In the Golden Bears' third win over then-No. 10 Wayne State (Neb.), the Minnesota native had her strongest defensive match grabbing 20 digs along with two solo blocks. After their win over Northern Michigan, for the week, Carlson averaged 4 kills and 4.08 digs per set while hitting at a .392 clip. This marks the 11th time a Golden Bear athlete has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honors, the last coming October 19, 2010 when Emily Palkert garnered the distinction. Concordia St. Paul is coached by Brady Starkey.
