Ashley Davis, a sophomore outside hitter for No. 13 West Texas A&M, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week after leading her team to five victories while dropping just one set.  She played one of her best matches of the year in their first match last week against Cameron, getting a career-high 21 kills in 47 attempts for a .383 hitting percentage.  She picked it up in the Lady Buffs next match, hitting .452 with 16 kills in their sweep over Wayland Baptist.  In the Texas native's following three matches, she accumulated 38 kills, hitting an even .500 in the final two matches against Valdosta State and Texas A&M Kingsville.  For the week, Davis amassed 75 kills for a 4.69 kills per set average while hitting a robust .404, and is now second in the Lone Star Conference in hitting percentage hitting .371 for the season.  Her strong front row play has played a large part in West Texas A&M opening the season a perfect 9-0, which is the team's second best start since 1999.  This marks the seventh time a Lady Bluffs athlete has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honors, the last coming September 23, 2008 when Laura Prinsen garnered the distinction. West Texas A&M is coached by Jason Skoch
