Samantha Middleborn, a senior middle blocker for No. 1 Cal State San Bernardino, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week.  She helped lead her team to three wins last week; including one over No. 15 UC San Diego.  Over the Tritons, Middleborn nailed 15 kills and a .462 hitting percentage in the three-set sweep.  She continued her strong success against CSU Monterey Bay, where she contributed another 24 kills (career-high), a .600 attack percentage and tied a school record 11 block assists.  The California native didn't slow down in the third and final match of the week against CSU East Bay.  This time she hit an astounding .857 with 12 kills and eight blocks to close the regular season unbeaten for the first time in school history (27-0).  This is the fifth time an athlete from Cal State San Bernardino has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honors, with the most recent coming from Jessica Granados the week of September 2, 2008.  The Coyotes are coached by Kim Cherniss.
