Abby Hogge, a junior libero for then - No. 6 Christopher Newport University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week.  They went 3-1 playing three matches against AVCA Coaches Top-25 Poll teams in then-No. 9 Carthage, then-No. 20 Wisconsin-Whitewater and then- No. 2 Washington-St .Louis.  She played her best match of the week against Carthage, digging a single-match program record 40 balls in the Captains' four-set win.  She followed that up with 21 digs and 23 digs in sweeps over Wisconsin-Whitewater and Ohio Northern, respectively.  In their lone loss of the week against Washington-St. Louis, Hogge tacked on another 22 digs to her total.  For the week, she averaged 8.15 digs per set.  For her efforts, she was named the USA South Defensive Player of the Week and named to the weekend's All-Tournament Team.   This is the second time an athlete from Christopher Newport University has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week award, with the first coming almost a year ago today with Jessie Heavenrich earning the distinction on September 14, 2010.   The Captains are coached by Lindsay Birch.
