Cassie Haag, a senior middle blocker for No. 1 Concordia University, St. Paul, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week after guiding her team to a 3-0 start to the season without dropping a single set.   The Golden Bears didn't have an easy opening match against then-No. 20 BYU-Hawai'i in the Wildwood Lodge Volleyball Classic, but that didn't faze Haag as she finished with 14 kills hitting .520 with four blocks.  Apparently she wasn't satisfied with those results because she went on to record the same number of kills in the following win over Regis, but did it with six fewer swings to hit an astounding .737.  Their final match of the week came against then-No. 10 Hillsdale, which saw the six-foot senior record another eight kills on 16 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage.  For the week, Haag finished with four kills per set while hitting at a .583 clip.  This marks the 12th time, a Division II record, a Golden Bear athlete has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honors, the last coming September 6th of last year when Megan Carlson took home the honor.  Concordia-St. Paul is coached by Brady Starkey.
